Third Booster: A Protection Against The Delta Variant?
August 26, 2021COVID-19 has made its presence more than known in these last 18 months or so, and right now, some states are seeing the highest hospitalization rates since the beginning of the pandemic. The Delta variant has taken over control and now is by far the dominating variant around the world. There's the Lambda variant which was first discovered in Peru, and has started making its way around the globe; however, it's less transmissible than the Delta variant. With cases getting out of control once again, what can we do to help slow the spread?
There's basic things that everyone can do, things like washing your hands or using hand sanitizer consistently and avoid touching your face. We can also do things like wear masks again, and get the vaccine. Wearing masks has been controversial since the beginning, as some people have strong feelings about whether they should or should not be worn. Regardless, masks have been proven to slow the spread of COVID. The vaccine was originally really effective, that was until the Delta variant got out of hand. The Delta variant can still be contracted even with the vaccine, but the vaccine does prove to decrease the severity of the case. Just this week, the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine in America. This means that it has gone through extensive testing and it is safe to be distributed. Herd immunity is something we should strive for, and then hopefully we can control COVID like we do the flu - by being proactive.
Do your part, and hopefully this will all be over soon.
