Mental Health And Its Toll On Olympic Athletes
August 2, 2021The delta variant has caused a recent surge in cases and has been responsible for nearly 85% of all new cases. As we know, the vaccines are not immune to the delta variant, but the vaccine does help lessen the severity of the symptoms, and it’s a far lesser risk to be hospitalized or die from the delta variant. Pfizer/BioNTech has done research and found that vaccine can be more effective for people who receive a third shot of their vaccine.
CNN states, “A third dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine can “strongly” boost protection against the Delta variant — beyond the protection afforded by the standard two doses, new data released by Pfizer on Wednesday suggests.” Just when we thought we were going to enter another lockdown, we get this ground breaking news. It’s not saying that another lockdown is no longer possible, there have been a lot of new cases recently, and people that are vaccinated are spreading the virus without even knowing they have it sometimes. But, this could be a huge step towards ending COVID forever. CNN continues on to state, “The data posted online suggest that levels of antibodies that can target the Delta variant grow fivefold in people 18 to 55 who get a third dose of the vaccine.”
It is certainly encouraging that data is showing another booster will help grow immunity against the virus and it’s different strains. Ideally, we don’t enter another lockdown, or even have another mask mandate, and we should know about those soon. The later the third dose is advised and allowed to be administered, the quicker we take steps back to normality. None the less, this is exciting news. A booster was expected by most, and this seems to be it. The studies are encouraging to the American people.
