COVID Tracker – Update

COVID is on the rise again due to the powerful delta variant that is responsible for about 83% of cases as of recently, and that number is only increasing. From early June until June 29, we were on a plateau with new cases, but since June 29, we have seen a huge increase in cases. This is due to the vaccinations not being immune to the delta variant, so even vaccinated individuals can contract the virus. On June 29, we were seeing about 3 cases per 100,000 people, but on July 25, there are about 15 cases per 100,000.

The CDC is highly recommending vaccinated individuals to wear masks when out in public due to this surge in cases. If this trend continues, we will certainly start to see more and more mandates be put in place to prevent people from spreading the virus. People are less and less safe because they are vaccinated, but unfortunately our vaccine will not prevent COVID with the Delta variant. This is why we are seeing a spike in cases; however, those who are vaccinated have a very low probability to be hospitalized or die, so the vaccine, at least, takes considerable steps in battling the vaccine. Many vaccinated people who are testing positive are showing no symptoms, which is quite scary for those who are unvaccinated. This will allow the virus to spread without people knowing they have it, and won’t stop their every day activities.

It will be interesting to see the next steps taken by the government in an attempt to keep people as safe as they can. It may mean making people upset and people revolting, but we are all fighting the same battle.
