Is The Delta Strain Of COVID-19 Something To Be Worried About?

COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects
June 28, 2021As we see more and more states starting to reopen because of high vaccination rates or the governor of that state declared it open such as Texas. But, it is important to still understand the scope of the damage COVID has brought to our world.
COVID has made its way to every continent including Antarctica after originating in Wuhan, China. The virus has infected over 180 million individuals, and is responsible for more than 3.9 million deaths. The virus has shown itself to be nothing less than devastating.
On top of the original strain of COVID, it has mutated to a different variant known as Delta. The new Delta variant is feared to be more dangerous than the original Alpha strain. Countries with high vaccination rates, such as Israel, has seen a spike in new cases, and this is thought to be because of the Delta strain. The strain is still contractible even while being fully vaccinated; however, the symptoms and severity of the case is much less and usually for a shorter time. With the vaccines, you’ll be less likely to be put in the hospital.
It doesn’t appear that America will hit Joe Biden’s goal of 70% vaccination rate by the Fourth Of July. As vaccines rates keep increasing, we can expect to see more of America opening up.
Masks are slowly starting to not be mandatory in public places such as gyms, retail stores, and places of work. Large gatherings such as concerts are slowly coming back and many professional sport organizations have been allowed to return to full capacity, some states sooner than others, but a return to normality doesn’t seem too far away.
We are getting there, we are just not quite there. Keep doing your part and we will be there before you know it.
