Will There Be A COVID Booster Shot?

COVID Booster & Cases Update
August 13, 2021COVID has been consisting of panic, and finding ways to keep ourselves as safe as possible, but the vaccine diminished the panic for many people. But, now a question has been raised. Are those people who showed no symptoms after receiving the vaccine as protected as people who experienced side effects? There is a lot of unanswered questions revolving COVID, but this may be the biggest question surrounding the vaccine. Over 70% of America is now vaccinated, and many of those people experienced side effects after the vaccine, but there was also a large population of people who experienced no side effects what so ever, maybe besides a sore arm where the vaccine was administered.
Fortunately, according to William Schaffner, M.D., a medical professor at Vanderbilt University, stated that, "there is no direct correlation between side effects and protection." This is really good news for many people, and what most would have figured, unless there was a placebo vaccine used, but surely that wouldn't be a case in a vaccine, especially for a pandemic sized virus. Medical News Today states, "Data from the trials of the two-dose mRNA COVID-19 vaccines — Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna — indicate that these are over 90%Trusted Source effective. Under 10% of those fully vaccinated may have partial to no protection." It's unclear if this information is for the original Alpha variant of COVID. There have been reports that the mutated viruses, such as Delta and Delta Plus, are more resistant to the vaccine. They do minimize the severity of the case, and reduce the chances of hospitalization and death.
An improved vaccine is in the midst of being developed to be more resistant to variants, and specifically the Delta variant. If the Lambda variant continues to surge, there will most likely be another improvement of the vaccine to help build immunity to that variant. At this point, it is likely that COVID turns into something like the flu. It may never go away, but there will be opportunity to gain a larger understanding and produce a yearly COVID shot, very similar to how the flu vaccine is operated.
